Chef Patron – Jermaine Smith
Jermaine Smith was born on the 9th May 1986 into a coloured community in the North West of South Africa in a town called Mafikeng. As a very young child he grew up closely with his family where cooking played a very important role in his life.

Food is celebrated highly when weddings, baptism, funeral ceremony takes place. All the women gather together and cook for as many as 500 guests at a function and youngsters will assist. This is where he discovered his love for cooking.

Jermaine’s Cape Malay coloured family were a great inspiration to him, especially his mother, grandmothers, and aunts. This led him to the path of becoming a astute student of food and its preparation.

Due to his family origin, Jermaine was exposed to both “Boere’’ cooking as well as the Cape Malay way of cooking and this developed into his love for Southern African, French and Asian cuisines.

Jermaine acquired the techniques of combining South African and Afro Asian French cuisine with a modern touch. He is currently employed as Chef Patron by the management of Impangele Game Lodge.
